A Merry Christmas from CFS
It has been said, "the only thing that never changes is change itself. It seems as I get older, the change keeps coming faster and faster. Jennifer and I have three sons. Two of them are off at university while one is in his last year of high school. The other day, I decided I would dig out the videos we had taken of them when they were we little lads and have a look. The videos were taken on 8 mm film! How does one get 8 mm to a digital format so that they can now be viewed? Today these same videos of our future grandkids can be taken on a cell phone and sent to every member of the family in a matter of minutes. Is agriculture any different? I cant remember there being any talk of robots milking cows or satellites steering tractors when I went to Guelph. In the midst of all this change, there seems to be a flow of sentiment that would take us back in time to the way it used to be. There is a growing movement of folks who want farmers to set aside change and do things the old way. There is an increasing demand for Organic Food and a rising push back globally against new GMO technologies. I am reminded of a book we read in our first year at Guelph called "When will the Bounty End. The book challenged us to think about the impact of a linear increase in food production intersecting with an exponential increase in population. What happens then? We think we are secure in our wealthy bubble in North America Our business continues to change in an effort to better service you our ever changing customer. We are thankful for your support over the past year and we wish you all the best as we wait to see what changes lie ahead in 2015. As I prepare to celebrate another Christmas season with my family, I am reminded again of one other thing that does not change. In Hebrews 13:8 we read that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. The words of one of my favorite worship songs says, "His love never fails, never gives up, never runs out on me. On and on and on it goes, it overwhelms and satisfies my soul. I trust that you will find and enjoy the unchanging love of the one whose birth we celebrate at this time of year. Merry Christmas Jeff & Jennifer And the whole team at the Campbellford Farm Supply
